RUNNERS SKILLS BOOTCAMP
Free two-week training course to introduce you to the role of a Runner in collaboration with Farnborough International Studios
A runner on a tv show or film has a varied role – and they’re always busy! Runners are instrumental in a range of activities to support the smooth running of production.
This free training takes place over two weeks face-to-face at Farnborough International Studios and will cover all the essential skills and knowledge to become an effective runner in the screen industries. This is an entry-level role so a good starting point for those who are keen to get into the industry but don’t have much experience.
The course covers the key aspects of what they need to know including
- End-to-end production workflow
- Roles and responsibilities of different departments
- Communication skills including on-set etiquette and behaviours
- Different equipment and kit on a production
- Legislation and regulation
- Health and Safety
- Sustainability
- Copyright
- Clearances
As this is a predominantly freelance industry we will also support you in managing your finances and provide you with support in marketing yourself and seeking work. On successful completion of the bootcamp you will join our talent pool.
The Skills Bootcamp for Runners is fully funded by the UK Government through the Hampshire County Council.

ELEGIBILITY
– Aged 19 years old and over.
– Right to Work and Live in the UK for at least the past three consecutive years.
– Not in education, funded training or enrolled on another Skills Bootcamp within the last 12 months.
