New Skills Bootcamp Set to Upskill the Future Film and TV Workforce

Chesham-based training provider, All Spring Media, addresses the current Film and TV skills shortage through the Skills Bootcamp launching this September.

The Skills Bootcamp for Production Assistants, supported by Sky Studios Elstree, will coach six groups of 16 participants through training and mentoring. Starting in September 2023, it is an opportunity for people pursuing a career in Film and TV to build their experience and skill set.

All Spring Media offers two delivery models that applicants can choose from to allow for wider participation. The first model includes three weeks of training, five days per week. The second is five weeks of training with three days per week, allowing participants to partake in the Skills Bootcamp alongside a part-time job.

Martina Porter, Managing Director of All Spring Media, said: “As Chair of the Bucks Film and TV Panel that fed into the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), we’ve been able to gauge the need for this kind of training first-hand. Together with my ongoing production experience, we have been able to design a programme with employers that is specific and relevant to the needs of Production Assistants within Film and TV.”

Each group of participants will train in All Spring Media’s facilities, based in the creative hub of Chesham, Buckinghamshire. Training includes an overview of the Creative Media Industries, developing and pitching ideas, legislation and copyright, understanding kit, budgeting, sustainable production, marketing yourself and more.

As part of the experience, participants will have a one-off training day at Sky Studios Elstree, the UK’s newest film and TV studio. They will also get an interview opportunity for a chance to be added to their talent pool.

The Skills Bootcamp for Production Assistants directly responds to Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) decision to prioritise skills improvement in the Film and TV industry.
